Fans of the movie Jaws should get a kick out of stocking their coolers with Narragansett this summer. The iconic New England economy-class lager has gone retro, introducing a new look that harkens back to its cameo in Steven Spielberg’s 1975 summer blockbuster about a great white shark terrorizing a beach town.
In that film, you’ll recall fearless shark-hunting sea captain, Quint, played by Robert Shaw, crushes a ‘gansett while ordering Roy Scheider’s Chief Brody to chum the waters to draw the man-eating great white shark to the surface.
Check out the beer's cameo in the clip below:
With the rollout of the iconic Jaws can, Narragansett is partnering up with the R.J. Dunlap Marine Conservation Program at the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science to sponsor the adoption of a real live shark. With a satellite tag, generoulsy paid for by Narragansett, researchers will track be able to track the adopted shark and observe its behavior.
Fans will have a chance to name the shark by submitting name suggestions through the company’s social media outlets through Aug. 10 using the #NameTheShark hashtag.
