Would you sing the national anthem to a fridge for a beer? That’s what some Canadians will be doing today to celebrate Canada Day.
Molson Canadian, the same people behind the passport fridge at the Winter Olympics, have created a fridge that rewards true patriotism with beer. The fridge reads, “Sing O Canada To Open Fridge”, and will only open when the Canadian national anthem is sung in its entirety. The fridge tracks the lyrics and the timing of the anthem while you sing, and will actually buzz you out if either are incorrect. Make it through the whole anthem however, and the fridge swings open to reveal frosty, cold brews.
The fridge will be making it’s way around Canada throughout the year. The only official stops currently are in Ottawa today for Canada Day and at the Pemberton Music Festival on July 14. Happy birthday Canada!
