Heir apparent to the Late Show on CBS, funnyman Stephen Colbert, dropped by the Ed Sullivan Theater on Tuesday to chat with the show’s current host, David Letterman, and delivered a Top Ten list that he originally submitted to the show back in 1997 as a writing sample for a writing position that was open.
By the time Late Show staffers got back to Colbert to offer him the job, he was already committed to Comedy Central for the program Strangers With Candy.
The list itself is a scream; it riffs on Top Ten Cocktails For Santa. Though slightly out of season, the gags are nonetheless hilarious, and certainly provide a preview of the laughs Colbert will dish out when he assumes his role as host of the show next year. Check out the clip below.
